Best Overall Quarterback Group in the NFL

Today begins the first of many in a series that will discuss the best overall position groups in the NFL. First, we will begin with the quarterback group and then will move on from there. Remember, this is not only the best starting quarterback in the NFL, but the best group as a whole.

tom-brady1.jpg (336×375)1. New England Patriots- First of all, this team has in its possession one of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL in Tom Brady. Ever year this team is in contention because Tom Brady always keeps them in the hunt for a Super Bowl Championship. Then behind him they have little known treasure Ryan Mallett, whom many teams in the NFL were begging for via trade in the off-season. This guy is expected to start after Brady retires in my opinion. Then to top it all off, they have a 3rd string quarterback who has won a playoff game in Tim Tebow. This team could be in wild card contention with its 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks I believe. Impressed? You should be.

2. Indianapolis Colts- Andrew Luck´s work for the Colts was overshadowed by RGIII and his head coach´s health condition. The guy can play and I believe he will be the face of the franchise for years to come. The Colts franchise managed to do horrible at the perfect timing in order to get him. Then in the offseason they signed up Matt Hasselback, who I believe is a great mentor and player for Luck. While they would do better with Luck, Hasselback could do very well as a replacement if anything happened.

cousinspic.jpg (1024×727)3. Washington Redskins- Yes of course, we all already know it, the Redskins have RGIII. He is an incredible player, athlete, and person. He keeps this team fighting and put them in positions to win when the games are close or seemingly out of reach. However, he is not the main reason why they are so high up on the list of all NFL teams. Rather, it is Kirk Cousins who I believe will be a big star in the future. RGIII is a monster on the field, but his reckless play will cause him trouble in the future. Cousins is going to start for some NFL team in the future and is going to do very well. If RGIII does not fully recover or gets hurt again, the Redskins will still easily be in playoff contention.

4. San Francisco 49´ers- Yeah I know, these guys always somehow manage to find a way on many of my postings, but right now they just have that good of a team. Colin Kaepernick is simply amazing and he will be the face of the franchise for many years. His football skills physically and mentally make him one of the best in the NFL. Then you have Colt McCoy, whom I believe is a very good backup compared with many others in the NFL. Will he solely win you a Championship? Probably not. Can he help bridge games in case Kaepernick gets hurt? I think so. He is a decent backup to have.

manning.jpg (899×600)5. Denver Broncos- When you have a guy like Peyton Manning on your roster, you know you are going to be at least a decent team this year. Manning is one of the top quarterbacks of all time and although he is sometimes overrated in my opinion, there is no questioning his work ethic. However, after that the group drops off. Brock Osweiler is an interesting prospect, but I think if Manning went down this team would sink as fast as the Colts did. That is the problem when you offense is based around mostly one guy, even if he is that good. The rest of the quarterbacks on the roster are probably just camp arms, but you never know.
